TASK 3: Weaving plan/design using Paint Shop Pro (PSP) software

Part A: Understanding Weaving Plan Components 2 Choose two colors
Before starting on PSP, explain to trainees what a - Black = Warp yarn on top (lifted)
weaving plan consists of: - White (or keep it background) = Weft yarn on top

1 Threading Plan (Warp order) (warp below)
2 Lifting Plan (Which warp threads lift on each pick) 3 Start filling squares manually
3 Tie-up (relation between treadles and harnesses - - Start from top-left corner.
mostly for dobby/jacquard) - Alternate each square horizontally and vertically.
4 Weave Design Visualization (Interlacement pattern)
                                                                  Example for first 4x4 section
Part B: Setting up Paint Shop Pro
                                                                     Black White Black White
1 Open Paint Shop Pro software White Black White Black
2 Go to File → New
                                                                     Black White Black White
               - Set Canvas Size:
                                                                     White Black White Black
               - Width = 200 pixels 4 Complete filling for entire grid size
               - Height = 200 pixels
                                                                    - Continue till full canvas is filled with the plain
               - Background = White weave repeat.
Part C: Creating Grid for Warp & Weft Part E: Saving the Design

1 Go to View → Grid 1 Go to File → Save As
               - This will help trainees align threads easily. - Save as: PlainWeave_Design.pspimage (Native
2 Go to View → Snap to Grid format)
                                                                    - Also Export as PNG/JPEG for printing or sharing.
               - This helps fill colors perfectly into grid boxes.
                                                                  Part F: Variations for Practice
            3 Set Grid Properties:
               - Grid spacing: 10 px x 10 px (so each square Ask trainees to try below for self-practice:
represents one intersection of warp & weft) 1 Make 2/2 Twill Weave (Two up, two down)
            4 Zoom In: 2 Make 3/1 Twill

               - (For better accuracy: View → Zoom → 800%) 3 Design Diamond weave (by mirroring twill)
Part D: Drawing Plain Weave Pattern Manually Part G: Final Display and Print
1 Select pencil tool 1 Print the final design.
            - Set size = 1 px. 2 Trainees can paste printed copies in their weaving
                                                                    design notebook.
